Canada Name 14 Player Roster for Final SVNS Championship Series Tournament in Bordeaux
It’s the final leg of the SVNS Championship with Canada sitting in 4th spot, tied with France. Australia sits 1st with 38 points, NZ 36, USA 30, France 28, Canada 28, Japan 20. Canada kick off the tournament against Spain at 2:20am PT on Friday, then GB at 7:45am PT, and a final pool game against USA at 4:10am PT on Saturday. Canada could finish 3rd in the series if they finish ahead of USA and France in this tournament. There are four changes, three players coming in from PWR teams that are out of the playoffs Pam Buisa, Fancy Bermudez and Chloe Daniels, and one player from the team that came 5th at the EAAST tournament, Larah Wright. Out are Olivia Apps who returns to the PWR with Saracens, Piper Logan who is injured, Alysha Corrigan another Saracens player. The team is travelling with 14 players instead of the usual 13 players.

Canada’s Women’s Sevens Team will welcome four new players into the squad for their final HSBC SVNS Series tournament of the season, the third and final leg of the HSBC SVNS World Championship in Bordeaux, France, from June 5–7.
Olympians Fancy Bermudez, Pamphinette Buisa, and Chloe Daniels will join Canada’s roster for the final stop of the HSBC SVNS season, looking to help the team improve on back-to-back fourth place finishes in the opening two legs of the HSBC SVNS World Championship. Larah Wright, who last weekend played with Canada’s Women’s ‘Next Gen’ Sevens Team at the EAAST 7s tournament in France also joins the squad for Bordeaux.
Piper Logan, Alysha Corrigan, and Olivia Apps are the three players who were part of Canada’s squad at HSBC SVNS Valladolid but will not be available for Bordeaux. As part of a plan established prior to the final two SVNS tournaments in Europe, Apps and Corrigan will return to their Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) club, Saracens, for the team’s final regular season match before the playoffs.
Logan, who suffered an injury on the opening day in Valladolid, has been ruled out of the Bordeaux tournament.
“We are excited to welcome Chloe, Fancy and Pamphinette back into the environment next week to help us continue to build on our performances,” said Head Coach Jocelyn Barrieau. “We are happy with the performances that Olivia Apps and Alysha Corrigan put in. Their leadership and guidance are very important for our team.”
