Premier Women’s Rugby – March 2026 – Round 14

Update on the English Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) Round 14 – Sixteen Canadians in Action

There were 16 Canadian players in action last weekend in the PWR. Asia Hogan-Rochester scored a try. Bristol with 3 Canadian players had a bye week. Sophie de Goede is still recuperating from injury, 13 weeks ago she posted on social media, “cartilage defect in my right knee requiring surgery round 3”. It’s unclear when she’ll be back. There’s two more rounds before the April break and the Pacific Four tournament preparation begins.

High School Rugby Updates – March 2026

In Touch Newsletter by Phil Smith: Volume 2 Issue 3

The 3rd issue of Phil’s newsletter covering boys XVs rugby on Vancouver Island. In 7s last week GP Vanier claimed the Westshore Secondary 7s titles in senior boys, senior girls and junior girls. Cowichan’s Quw’utsun claimed the junior boys title. St. George’s junior XV are in Scotland/England during the spring break. Thunder Indigenous rugby are sending boys and girls U18 XVs teams to a tournament in Portugal. Robert Bateman is touring to NZ and Australia. Shawnigan is going to France. ADSS (Port Alberni) going to the UK. If you know of other youth teams touring during spring break, add them to the comments section.

New York 7s 2026

Canada Finish 7th in New York: Lose to France and Defeat Great Britain

Canada lost to France in the 5th place semi-final 24-19. It was a better performance for Canada with the match tied 19-19 as the clock wound down, a late try by France gave them the victory. Canada followed that up with their first win of the tournament 22-14 over Great Britain. Florence Symonds and Charity Williams again led the team on Day 2, Williams scoring 3 tries and Symonds distributing and leading on defence, she was the leading defender in their win over Great Britain with 5 tackles.

BC Rugby Weekend of March 14th 2026

BC  Premier Make-Up Weekend Results: Vikes Edged by Caps, Pride Fall Hard to UBC

This is a make-up weekend which is why there are only two Premier matches. After this weekend all but two teams will have reached 14 games played with 3 games left, the exceptions are UVic who still have one extra match left and the Lomas who have already played 15 and are out of playoff contention. The Pride aren’t included as they only play a single round and aren’t playoff eligible.

Westshore Secondary 7s – 2026

GP Vanier Win 3 of 4 Titles at Westshore Secondary 7s

GP Vanier from Courtenay made a statement in high school 7s winning 3 of the 4 titles at the Westshore Secondary 7s. They won the senior boys, senior girls and junior girls. Robin MacDowell’s rugby academy at Cowichan’s Quw’utsun high school won the junior boys title. Vanier senior boys came 2nd in the province last year in 7s with Belmont winning the provincial 7s title.

There’s a 7s tournament happening on Friday at Westshore for junior and senior high school teams, the Westshore Secondary 7s, action goes from 9am to 5pm. Update on the English Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) Round 13 – Thirteen Canadians in Action

There were thirteen Canadians in the rosters this week with Olivia Apps and Sabrin Poulin scoring tries. There are three weeks left before the league takes a break in April for international rugby, Six Nations and Pacific Four. The top four teams make post season play and at the current time that would be Saracens, Gloucester, Exeter and Harlequins.

Vancouver 7s Wrap-Up with Photos

There were a number of talented photographers at the Vancouver 7s. For example, Gone West Photography, posted some photos on Instagram. In this article we feature the work of Robb McCaghren, the610photographer, he is actually 6’10” tall and hence his nickname. He’s a new convert to rugby coming from football and now he’s hooked on rugby, I think he shot his first game in November and his comments were, “I’m really starting to like Rugby, a lot, and would love to keep shooting this sport. I dunno how these folks do it. Even in my prime, I don’t think I could have survived a sport like Rugby. I have an absolute ton of respect for these athletes. Y’all are absolutely amazing.”

Vancouver 7s 2026 – Men

Canada Win Challenge Series with 3-1 Record: Next Montevideo on March 21-22

After winning both matches on Day 1 against Chile and Japan, Canada went 1-1 on Day 2, losing to Chile and defeating Japan. That gives them an overall 3-1 record and the Challenge tournament title. It’s scant consolation if they can’t convert that momentum to a better performance in the two remaining SVNS 2 tournaments in Montevideo (March 21-22) and Sao Paulo (March 28-29) to claim a top 4 position. It will be interesting to see who head coach Christiaan Esterhuizen chooses for the tour. Lockie Kratz, the team leader, looks a lock and Morgan di Nardo is starting to reclaim his form. Jack Shaw showed well in the last match, Ian Jones showed some pace and tracked back well on defence. Young players like Adam Doane and Andrew Cooper would be an asset. Veterans Elias Hancock and Johnny Franklin might be on the list. Will Thomas Isherwood and Josiah Morra be healthy for the trip? That announcement might show up next week from Rugby Canada.
