A note on location changes this weekend, unfortunately the city parks board wouldn’t give the west side clubs Meralomas, Kats and Ravens permits for this weekend. Lomas have moved their Premier game to Bayside and Ravens have moved their game to Langley.

Head Coach Kevin Rouet has named the roster for Canadas Womens Rugby Teams upcoming tour to Spain, the teams first competition following Canadas fourth place performance at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand last fall.
There are three Canadian coaches this coming season in the PR7s. DTH is assistant coach for the Headliners men’s team working with head coach Tim Stanfill who used to play for the Seattle team in the BC Premier. Robin MacDowell is the head coach of the Loonies women’s team and his assistant is Saskatchewan’s Brett Kannenberg who is also the assistant coach with the MacDowell Rugby 7s program.

Shawnigan Lake School will have the honour of representing all of North America at a prestigious rugby sevens tournament in England later this month celebrating the 200th anniversary of the sport.
In an article from 2021 on Wales Online, Sally Dennis had a good chuckle about the Welsh invasion of Canada’s governing body. The occasion was her taking the Chair position at the Board of Rugby Canada.

Amidst partially sunny skies and cooler climes in the northeast part of London, England, Upright Rugby took to the field against Wansted RFC. This was first match in Uprights first ever 15s rugby tour, a team which is comprised of a mix of players primarily based in Oakville, Ontario, where many of them train with the Upright Rugby Academy nearly year-round.
Seattle remain the only undefeated team in the league after defeating Houston on the weekend. Nakai Penny started for the Seawolves. They are one point clear of San Diego in the West standings.
In the East, New York, Atlanta and New England are tied atop the standings with 10 points. Toronto won their first match of the season and are tied with New Orleans at the bottom of the standings.

On a cool day at Connaught the players and supporters were happy to get back to rugby after another long break and they were curious to see how the two long time westside rivals were now stacking up against one another. As it turned out the Ravens still have the upper hand thanks on this day to the strong play of their forward pack.
