BCRU Announces New President and Board Changes

BC Rugby is proud to announce the election of Bob Strachan as new BC Rugby President, as well as the addition of three new members elected to its Board of Directors.

Strachan brings a wealth of experience and passion for the sport, having served as BC Rugby Vice President (Finance & Administration) since 2019. As a respected leader and advocate for the development of Rugby in BC, Bob is poised to guide BC Rugby into a promising future. He takes over from Mark Lewis, who will now serve as a Past President.

Former Vice President Tanya Donaldson also departs following 10 years of service, with current Directors of the Board Matt Gordon and Tony Payne elected into Vice President positions.

Additionally, BC Rugby welcomes Andrew Ference, Denis Jones and Theresa Weeks to the BC Rugby Board of Directors. Each of these individuals brings unique expertise and a shared commitment to advancing the sport of Rugby in the province. Their diverse backgrounds will undoubtedly enrich the organization’s ability to make a positive impact on the Rugby community.

The trio will work alongside fellow BC Rugby Board of Directors Alan Snowden, Brennan Bastyovansky, Connie McGinley, Marvin Foss, Matt Gordon and Tony Payne.

He added: “We would like to thank departing BC Rugby President, Mark Lewis, and Vice-President, Tanya Donaldson, for their hard work and incredible commitment over the past decade. Both Mark and Tanya have been invaluable in growing Rugby throughout British Columbia.”
