Canada v Scotland – RWC 2025

Canada Win Final Pool Match 40-19 Over Scotland: Face Australia in Quarter-Finals

Canada were ahead 19-5 at the half but it wasn’t a comfortable lead as Scotland had much of the play in the first 30 minutes and it was a yellow card picked up by the TMO at the 30′ that turned the match around. The referee had penalized Canada heavily early in the match, often getting the scrum infractions wrong, penalizing Canada even though they had the stronger scrum. She also missed the important yellow card infraction where a Scottish hand knocked the ball on from an offside position near the goal line, the TMO picked it up. What ensued was a penalty try from the scrum and a try by Emily Tuttosi that took a close 7-5 match to 19-5 at the half.

Canada v Wales – RWC 2025

Canada Shut Out Wales 42-0 in 2nd Pool Match: Next up Scotland on September 6th

Canada started slowly and finished with their foot off the pedal but had a strong 40 minutes between the first try at 16′ and their last try at 55′. It wasn’t a complete game for Canada with a lot of handling errors and they’ll need to focus on the details a little more as they have Scotland on the horizon and then likely a quarter-final match against Australia. Sophie de Goede was player of the match. Coach Rouet summed it up, “We know we have a job to do to refine our game, I am excited for next week because we want to play a good game of rugby.”

Canada v Ireland – August 2025

Canada Defeat Ireland 47-26 With a Dominant Five Try First Half: Full Match Video

It was a game of two halves, as Canada had basically won the match by halftime with a 33-7 lead. Canada went through a “blue” patch from about the 60 minute mark up to the final 5 minutes where Ireland scored 3 tries and were playing the better rugby. Canada lost captain Alex Tessier in the first half to an HIA and she didn’t return, her leadership may have been missed during that lull in the second half when the subs had been made. Florence Symonds looked good in the first half with 2 key tries, the player of the match over the full 80 was loose forward Fabiola Forteza.

Canada v USA – August 2025

Canada Defeat USA 42-10 on Strong 2nd Half Performance: Full Match Video

After the first 10 minutes with USA leading 7-0 there may have been some thoughts that Canada had pushed the World Cup build up a little too much with the tour to South Africa. They looked flat and fatigued. USA were winning the contact battle, they were breaking the gainline on their carries, it wasn’t looking promising. Even at the half with Canada scoring a late try, there were questions. Those questions were answered in the 2nd half as Canada scored 28 points and kept USA off the score sheet.

Canada vs South Africa Match #2 – July 2025

Canada Defeat South Africa 33-5 in 2nd Test

It wasn’t perfect but Canada’s defence limited South Africa to one second half try which is a victory in itself, after conceding 20 points last match. There are definitely some work-ons, two 1st half yellow cards had Canada playing with 13 players at one point. A couple of 1st half penalty advantages didn’t see the kicks go into touch, a few too many line breaks allowed but the cover defence was strong. Also two players lost, the injury to Rori Wood looking serious and Laetitia Royer holding her shoulder going off.

Canada vs South Africa – July 2025

Canada Defeat South Africa 50-20 in Match #1

Canada won their first match in South Africa taking a 26-3 half time lead and finishing off with two late tries to win 50-20. The Canada backline looked dangerous during periods of the match finding space out wide but the Canadian forwards weren’t as dominant in this match compared to recent performances. The scrum was under pressure for most of the match. Canada were in control from the opening whistle but won’t be happy with the 3 second half tries they conceded considering they were playing a team ranked 10 places below them.
