Conor O’Flaherty Announced as 8th Signing for Vancouver Highlanders

The Vancouver Highlanders have announced Conor O’Flaherty as their 8th signing.

O’Flaherty currently plays for the Meraloma in the BC Premier competition. The Lomas are undefeated this season. He usually plays tighthead prop but has been used at hooker. Before coming to the Meralomas this season he was at UBC and helped them win a couple of Canadian University titles.

He was a member of the 2022 UBC championship team and was selected to the tournament 1st XV All Stars at tighthead prop. Also on that 2022 All Star team were notable players like Izzak Kelly at second row, Jack Carson at scrum half and Takoda McMullin at outside centre. He was also a member of the UBC championship team in 2021 and has played front row at UBC at the Premier level since 2019.

Originally from Dublin, Ireland he’s Canada eligible according to the Highlanders social media post. He arrived in Canada in 2016, completed his Master’s in Kinesiology at UBC in May 2023 and maintains a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification.

Curry Hitchborn had this to add: Conor plays his premier rugby for Meraloma after an extensive shift at UBC and some time at the Pride. Like a true rugby man, he’s a pleasant fella and an absolute killer on the pitch. Fit, mean and smart. Winning combination.”
