Kamloops 7s Results: CW Sweep U18, U16, U14 Boys Titles; Abbotsford Claim U18 Girls, Strathcona U16 Girls, Rapids Rugby U14 Girls
The BCRU results system doesn’t explicitly name a winner or show, in many cases, which is the finals match, so a bit of interpretive reading of the results is required. If in doubt check the results directly using the links below.
CW won the Boys U18 title defeating a USA/Alberta barbarians style team called the Hawkeyes 10-5 in the final. MacDowell Rugby Academy won Bronze with a 10-5 win over Bayside.
CW were undefeated in the tournament defeating Abbotsford 33-0 in the final. Bayside won Bronze.
CW won both Gold and Silver in this division with their two teams, Abbotsford won Bronze.
Abbotsford defeated CW in the final 24-7. Rapids Rugby won Bronze.
Strathcona Druids won Gold defeating James Bay in the final 21-7. CW won Bronze.
The U14 Girls was a round robin format. At the top was Rapids Rugby who were 5-1 and Capilano and Abbotsford were both 4-2.
*Kamloops Youth 7s Tournament Kicks Off Saturday: 42 Girls Teams and 28 Boys Teams Entered*
The Kamloops 7s kicks off on Saturday and is being held over the Thanksgiving weekend, October 8th and 9th. It’s an interesting snapshot on what the stats have been saying, girls and women’s rugby is the fastest growing segment of the sport. In every division U14 (7 girls teams, 6 boys teams), U16 (17 girls teams, 8 boys teams), U18 (18 girls teams, 14 boys teams) the girls teams outnumber the boys, in U16 it’s double, overall 42 girls teams and 28 boys teams.
The links below from the BCRU have the schedule and information on the event. There’s no mention of a live stream or where match results will be published but best bet is to follow the BCRU social media pages for updates. We’ll post a summary at the completion of the tournament.
