PRCs Kick Off July 5th and 6th – What Are Regions Doing to Prepare
This year the PRCs have a slight change, less teams, higher quality. The number of teams have been reduced to four representing the four main regions of BC: Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Fraser Valley and Interior. There was an earlier post in March that explained those changes.
What are the regions doing to prepare for the PRCs. We looked at the Insta accounts (linked below) of the regions to find out.
The Island are holding a north (Tsunami) vs south (Tide) competition over the next two weekends in Cowichan. The Island PRC team will likely be selected based on performances in these matches.
The Fraser Valley held their “interlock games” last weekend to get a look at players. Check out their Insta account (linked above) for further updates.
The Vancouver region have been holding ID camps since May, this coming weekend are the girls trial matches at John Oliver Park. Check their insta account (linked above) for the latest updates.
Interior
This is a little more difficult to track as the Interior region is made up of 3 sub regions, North (Aurora), TORA (Thompson Okanagan) and Kootenay. Two Insta accounts are linked below, the Kootenay one doesn’t seem to be active.
Aurora Wolves Rugby Union
AWRU is a regional team made up of athletes from across northern BC (Prince Rupert, Peace Rugby, Williams Lake, Vanderhoof, Terrace & Prince George.)
TORA
The Thompson Okanagan is built of 6 primary areas: Kelowna, Kamloops, Penticton, Merritt, Salmon Arm, Vernon
