Vancouver 7s Schedule Announced for Feb 21st to 23rd: Thomas Isherwood and Elias Hancock Invited to Play at SuperSevens Event in Paris This Weekend
Vancouver 7s announced the schedule for the 3 day tournament. The men are playing an exhibition series against Trinidad & Tobago and Japan as part of the tournament. Canada will face each team twice over the tournament, playing them Friday and Saturday. The women start their tournament on Friday at 3:28pm against Brazil, then face Spain at 8:58pm. Their final pool game is at 3:08pm on Saturday, the women’s quarter-finals start at 7:32pm on Saturday.
Monaco Rugby 7s
Thomas Isherwood and Elias Hancock are playing with the Monaco 7s team this weekend in Paris. They’re entered into the In Extenso SuperSevens one day tournament that features sides from the Top 14 clubs. There are 8 men’s teams in the tournament Pau, Toulouse, Vannes, Racing, Bordeaux-Begles, Montpellier, a BaaBaas side and the Monaco side, which is a barbarians style side.
The Monaco 7s team have had some celebrity players join their ranks over the years, including Isherwood’s and Hancock’s Westshore teammate, Alvin “The Buffalo” Otieno. Other well known names who have played for the Monaco team, Cecil Afrika, Tom Mitchell, Ryan Oosthuizen, Branco du Preez. This year’s team features South African player Rosko Specman, Fijian Nikola Matawalu, USA player Martin Iosefo, and Australian Simon Kennewell.

It’s borderline embarassing the way they are jamming the Canadian men into the schedule of events, without being qualified for the tournament.
How arent they qualified?
