Canadian Women Defeat Australia 45-7 to Finish Second in Pacific Four Series
Canada finished 2nd in the Pacific Four Series with a commanding 45-7 win over Australia. New Zealand topped the competition with a 3-0 record.

Canada defeated Belgium 22-17 but they didn’t make it easy on themselves. Canada gave up three first half tries on the outside plus earned themselves a yellow card for some chippy play off the ball, they were down 17-0 with 10 minutes left in the first half. They were almost down four tries as Belgium ran another one in on the outside but it was called back and a red card given the Belgian player, that was the turning point in the match.
The Canadian U20 women fell to Wales 39-12 to finish the tournament 0-2. The USA win the tournament with a 2-0 record as Wales lost 28-27 to USA Womens U20s in Ottawa last week. Wales finish at 1-1.

Vancouver, BC: BC Rugbys 2023 Provincial Regional Championships (PRCs) concluded on Sunday following three days of action-packed youth Rugby at UBCs Gerald McGavin Centre, with the Vancouver Island Junior Tide taking four gold medals back to the Island.
New England Free Jacks won the 2023 MLR title defeating San Diego Legion 25-24. There were 6 Canadians in the match, Andrew Quattrin, Conor Keys and Ben Lesage starting for New England, with Cole Keith and Spencer Jones on the bench. Michael Smith was on the bench for San Diego. New England had the largest number of Canadians on a USA based team roster, with 11 players used during the season.
Canada go 1-1 in the Pacific Four series and with one round left are in a good position to finish top 3 and advance to the Tier One WXV. The USA look destined to be relegated to Tier 2 as they were pummelled by Australia today, 58-17, they’ll have to defeat the Black Ferns to have any chance of remaining in Tier 1. Canada fill face Australia in the final round of the series on Friday.

Coach Kevin Rouet named his 30 players for the upcoming matches against NZ and Australia. He had to drop 10 players from his long list. He dropped 7 forwards and 3 backs, the total now stands at 17 forwards and 13 backs.
There’s been some negative reaction to the rugby giants colluding together to have their own party during the summer and fall test windows. The Planet Rugby article calls it the “death of Tier 2 rugby”, Americas Rugby News states, “Changes are set to hit International Rugby like a hurricane.”
