The Westshore 7s wrapped up on Saturday with Westshore winning the men’s title, Thunder Indigenous winning the women’s title and the boys U18 title. JBAA won the girls U18 title, Abbotsford won the girls U16 title and CW won the boys U16 title.
The question of whether Canada would still host the 7s Series in 2025, now that the men’s team are no longer part of the core group, has been answered. Yes, Vancouver will be the 4th stop on the 2025 series.
Canada failed to make the 2023 World Cup, it was the first time in history the men’s XVs failed to qualify. The 2027 World Cup in Australia is expanded to 24 teams, so 4 more teams will qualify for the tournament.
The Bula Rugby 7s tournament will be a 2 day event, Friday August 16th and Saturday August 17th, at John Oliver Park in Delta, the home of the Brit Lions.
With the Vancouver Highlanders hosting the national German team on Saturday, July 20th, at Burnaby, we decided to take a look at some history between German Rugby and Canadian Rugby.

The Rugby Tens Championship kicks off Saturday, November 18th in Cape Town and there is some Canadian representation among the 6 teams participating.

Classic Springboks won the Plate courtesy of a 17-8 triumph over Rugby Canada. Former Springboks flyhalf Morne Steyn was the star of the show for the South Africans, scoring a try, two conversions and a penalty to finish with a points haul of 12.

The Loonies women’s team, stacked with Canadian talent, and coached by Robin MacDowell won the Western kickoff tournament on Saturday. The standings count both the men’s and women’s results, the Loonies men came 3rd but their combined results put the Loonies at the top of the standings with 16 points.
