UBC Win CanWest Title – Ranked #3 Going to Nationals
The women’s university national tournament will take place at Queen’s University in Kingston between November 10-14. Laval are ranked #1, Queen’s #2, UBC #3 and Acadia #4. UVic are ranked 8th.

The CanWest season kicked off last weekend with UBC defeating UVic 31-15 and Lethbridge clobbering Alberta 53-7. The win earned UBC a 5th place national ranking while Lethbridge are ranked 8th. The two top teams from CanWest will attend the nationals in Ontario in November.

VICTORIA -The University of Victoria is delighted to announce Scott Manning as the new head coach of the Vikes men’s rugby program, effective June 28, 2021. Manning will take the reins from long-time head coach Doug Tate who is retiring after 27 years.
If you’re a high school player or a high school coach this should interest you. You can watch University coaches from across the country pitch their uni as the right choice for you. There are about 17 coaches and each one gets about 5 minutes of video time to make their point. It was informative and entertaining.
The Canadian University Mens Rugby Championship was initiated in 2017 with the assistance of a Canadian Rugby Foundation grant. The inaugural tournament was held at Guelph University and won by the UBC Thunderbirds.

UBC is ready to face their rival the University of California Golden Bears in the second leg of the World Cup series. Kick-off is on Sunday at 1:00 PM at Thunderbird Stadium. Cal comes into the game with a 33-24 aggregate lead.

LANGFORD, BC On Saturday afternoon the UVic Vikes wrapped up the 2014 National University Rugby Sevens Championships at Westhills Stadium with an emphatic 24-19 victory over UBC. The win over their provincial rivals saw the hometown Vikes capture back-to-back titles and their third championship in four years.
