Six Canadians in Fiji Drua vs LA Match This Evening; Seattle Seawolves vs Canada Selects Match Called Off; Archive of Seattle Seawolves vs Crimson Tide Match December 2018
A couple of MLR preseason news items that impact Canadian rugby fans. The LA franchise is in Fiji to play the Drua this evening, the team includes 6 Canadian players. Also the Seattle Seawolves match vs Canada Selects, scheduled for Feb. 7th has been called off, the Seawolves will play the local Seattle club side instead.
LA vs Fiji Drua
The match is scheduled to kickoff at 7pm PT tonight. There’s some confusion as to where the game will be streamed. The LA media release says it will be on TheRugbyNetwork.com and RugbyPass.tv but at the time of writing neither are showing it on the schedule for Canadian viewers.

Seattle Seawolves vs Canada Selects
The February 7th match has been called off according to the Seattle Seawolves, they’ll play the local Seattle club team instead as part of their MLR season warmup. It indicates the Rugby Canada coaching transition is still in flux with Jones on the way out and Meehan on the way in. We’ve also heard that budget considerations were a factor.
In 2019 and 2020, the Seattle Seawolves played the Vancouver Island Crimson Tide in warmup matches. The 2019 season warmup match was played at Westhills Stadium. Seattle would go on to win the MLR title that year with Phil Mack as player/coach. We live streamed that match and Bryan Kelly and Gareth Rees did the commentary. It’s included below.
Perhaps in 2026 a Seattle Seawolves vs BC Premier All-Star match could be arranged?
