[ed. our normal predictions article with rosters will publish every Friday.]

Week 1 of the 2022-23 rugby season is coming up this Saturday. Yes, once again, Saturday is a rugby day in BC.

The Premier teams will be taking part in regional competitions for the first 6 weeks before BC Premier league play begins.

Barnard Cup

On the Island it will be CW, Westshore and JBAA vying for the historic Barnard Cup. It will be a home and away series between the 3 teams.

This weekend it will be CW hosting JBAA at Windsor Park, kickoff at 2:30pm. Westshore have a bye.

Coastal Cup

We’ll call it the Coastal Cup, I don’t think the BCRU has given a name to the competition yet but it includes 4 of the 7 teams from last year’s inaugural Coastal Cup. In this competition will be UBC, UVic, Pacific Pride and TWU.

This week it’s Pacific Pride hosting UBC at Westshore and UVic hosting TWU at Wallace, both games are at 2:30pm.

Mainland Cup

The Mainland Premier teams have in the past competed for the Mainland Cup. In this competition are Ravens, Rowers, Capilano, Meraloma, Burnaby, Seattle.

This week it’s Meraloma hosting Rowers, Capilano hosting Ravens and Seattle hosting Burnaby. All games are at 2:30pm.
