BLRC 3rd Div Men 41 Squamish Axemen 15
The BLRC traveled to Squamish to take on the Axemen for the first time in decades. There are few pitches in the world more picturesque than Brennan Park.
Our prediction record took a hit this weekend, only going 3 for 5, and putting our season record at 25 out of 29. We went from 92% accuracy to 86%. The Bays’ grizzly decided to roar and they notched their first win over the visiting Lomas, also Caps pounded the undefeated CW team. First Bays win and first CW loss, who would have guessed?

The Palmer Cup is dedicated to the late, great Burnaby Lake Alum Doug The Bear Palmer. Doug tragically passed away in France while on tour with the guys, cheering on Canada at the 1999 World Cup. The Bear also had an affiliation to the Meraloma Rugby Club. The results of the regular season games between Burnaby Lake and Meraloma are tallied to crown the winner. The club with the most wins takes the cup. After almost a decade of dominance by the Lomas, the BLRC have had possession of the Palmer Cup since 2011. The results from the Fall season matches saw the BLRC up 2 wins to 1 draw, meaning that the first Blue + White win of the day would retain the Palmer Cup via tie while a 2nd would win the Palmer Cup and return it to the BLRC trophy case. Burnaby Lake took 3 out of 4 on the day.
Burnaby Lake 21 v Meraloma 12 @ 14:30

We called Burnaby +5 and it was Burnaby +9. Burnaby go 2-2 for 7th place, Lomas 1-4 in 9th place. Next week Burnaby visit Westshore while Meralomas visit James Bay.

On a sunny day at Jericho the Ravens and their recent rival Burnaby renewed acquaintances after a two-year break in their relationship. After the Rippers came out on top in a hard-fought game against the perennially tough Lakers second squad 17-11, the premier players took the field not certain about the relative strength of their teams. It took till early in the second half to get some clarity on that matter.
Castaway Wanderers 43 v University Of Victoria 15 14:45
Referee: Cole Pedrick Referee 2: Carter Haddow
Venue: Windsor Park
We said CW by +8 but it was CW by +28. We also heard reported 47-15 and 45-15 but the BCRU site has it as 43-15. Needless to say a bonus point win for CW. CW go to 2nd in the table behind the Ravens, both 4-0 with Ravens claiming an extra bonus point. UVic drop to 9th at 0-3. Next week CW visit cross town rivals James Bay while UVic host Westshore.

The contest between the T-Birds and Caps turned out to be a thriller that had a bit of everything. Hard hits, shifty side line running, bad tempers, a thirty- or forty-minute delay in the first half and a deluge in the second half. Something for everybody.
