Ravens Up Their Game: Ravens 46 – Burnaby 17

On a sunny day at Jericho the Ravens and their recent rival Burnaby renewed acquaintances after a two-year break in their relationship. After the Rippers came out on top in a hard-fought game against the perennially tough Lakers second squad 17-11, the premier players took the field not certain about the relative strength of their teams. It took till early in the second half to get some clarity on that matter.

BC Premier Weekend Results: CW Dominate UVic; Caps Edge Lomas; Ravens Soar Past Burnaby; UBC Sink Rowers

We said CW by +8 but it was CW by +28. We also heard reported 47-15 and 45-15 but the BCRU site has it as 43-15. Needless to say a bonus point win for CW. CW go to 2nd in the table behind the Ravens, both 4-0 with Ravens claiming an extra bonus point. UVic drop to 9th at 0-3. Next week CW visit cross town rivals James Bay while UVic host Westshore.

BC Premier Results: Pride Dominate Bays, UBC Battle Past Capilano, CW Edge Westshore

Only 3 Premier matches this weekend with 2 on the Island. The Mainland game should be a good one, UBC host Capilano. Seattle come back into the schedule on March 12th, it will be interesting to see how they adjust the playoff picture with Seattle only playing 4 games, 2 home and 2 away.

Burnaby Match Reports and Videos: Women Defeat United, Men Split Premier and Div 1 Matches with Capilano

A beautiful day for rugby at Burnaby Lake on Saturday saw 3 games played, The 2 mens games were as close as could be with each side claiming a W and the margin of victories being one and two points, while the women overwhelmed their opposition in a one sided affair to start the day. With such evenly matched clubs, the Men’s winner on the day was to be decided by the post-game boat race but that ended in a tie.

Another nice day, another big squad rotation and another win for the Ravens though it was UVic that likely enjoyed their rugby the most and earned the greater admiration from the crowd on the day. But the Ravens got it done early and got it done late and held on at the end for another five points.
