Coastal Cup and University Championship Qualifier UBC Defeat UVic; Coastal Cup Pride Down TWU; Full Match Videos

There’s no Premier this weekend as the Kamloops Youth 7s has the attention of the BCRU staff and BC referees. There are however two Coastal Cup matches, one which also counts towards qualification for the National University Championships being held in November. UVic, UBC and TWU play a home and away series with the top 2 teams representing BC at the University Championships. UBC have already won their first match against TWU and this will be UVic’s first qualifier match. The Pride are visiting TWU in the other Coastal Cup match.

Coastal Cup and Men’s University UBC Crush TWU; and in Women’s University UVic Pummel Calgary

Two blowouts this weekend with UBC crushing TWU 76-0 to start their Coastal Cup and men’s University Championship qualification on a strong note and the UVic women continue their unbeaten run in the women’s University Championship qualification with a 74-10 pummeling of the University of Calgary Dinos. BC Rugby Weekend of October 26th 2024

BC Premier Week 4 Results: Pride Edge Bays, Caps Fall to Westshore, Lomas Defeat UBC, Ravens Fly Past Burnaby – Coastal Cup and University Championship Qualifier TWU Upset UVic – Women’s Premier Seattle @ Burnaby, Thunderbirds Default to CW

It’s Week 4 of the BC Premier with some good matchups. The Vikes host TWU which is a Coastal Cup match but more importantly the qualifier for the University Championships with a BC #2 berth for the victor. In Women’s Premer it’s Seattle at Burnaby and CW hosting the Thunderbirds 2nd team.

A huge upset in the Coastal Cup with TWU upsetting the home team Vikes however the Vikes advance to the University Championships based on the points of the home and away games between the three university sides, a further explanation below.

BC Premier Week 1 and Coastal Cup Week 4  Results & Rosters: Vikes Edged by Ravens, Caps Fall to UBC, Westshore Draw with Burnaby, CW Defeat Lomas, Pride Dominate TWU

The BC Premier kicked off this weekend with four games, the Bays had a bye and the Pride were playing a Coastal Cup match. The theme of the season seems to be parity early on with an average of a 3 point difference over 4 matches in the BC Premier.

Coastal Cup Week 3  Results & Rosters: UBC Fall to Pride, UVic Edge TWU – Men’s Div 1 Kicks Off

The Coastal Cup enters week 3 with the two tops teams battling it out to determine who will remain on top and get an edge on claiming the Coastal Cup this year. The Dunbar Keg U20 competition takes a week off and men’s  Div 1 kicks off across the province.

Coastal Cup Week 2 Results & Rosters: UVic Fall to UBC and Pride Overcome TWU

After Round 2 of the Coastal Cup UBC and the Pacific Pride share top spot with a head to head encounter next week. TWU earned a bonus point in their loss to the Pride this week scoring 38 points, UVic scored 33 and also earned a bonus point in their loss to UBC.

UBC Rugby 2024-25

A Look at the UBC Roster for the 2024-25 Season: Coastal Cup Starts Saturday

UBC kick off their season against TWU on Saturday and we’ll look at their roster for the upcoming season. Last year in the Coastal Cup UBC had a slow start, finishing 3rd behind the Pacific Pride and UVic. They defeated TWU twice but lost to UVic and the Pride for a 2-3 record. They quickly improved and ended up winning the national University championship defeating rivals UVic.
