November 23, 2021 (Langford, BC) The Rugby Canada Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer Allen Vansen announced today that they have agreed to begin the transition of leadership at the organization.

It is with great sadness that we inform club members of the tragic passing of Steve “Sanchez” Taylor. Sanchez was tragically killed in the mudslide on Highway 99 last week. The Capilano Rugby Club offers its heartfelt condolences to the entire Taylor family. We will very much miss having Sanchez around Klahanie Park. A fundraising page has been set up to help the family and the link for this is posted below.

Canadas Senior Womens 15s faced Wales at Cardiff Arms Park on November 21st, earning a 24-7 win in their final Fall fixture, presented by DHL Rugby. Canada overcame a first half red card and put forth a dominant second half of play to collect their third win from four matches this Fall.
MLR
The MLR season starts February 5th, the schedule is here.. Seattle will host Toronto on Sunday the 6th and the following Friday, February 11th, Toronto will host the defending champion LA Giltinis at Starlight Stadium in Langford.

Queen’s won the national women’s university title for the first time. The tournament MVP was Victoria’s Sophie de Goede.
It was no surprise that #1 England would dominate, they’re far ahead of the pack based on recent results. England defeated NZ 56-15 last weekend which would put Canada on par with #2 NZ in terms of comparison. France #4 may actually be the on form team for second as they defeated NZ 38-13 on the weekend.
The Vancouver Wave won the inaugural Coastal Cup championship with a 26-17 win over the Pacific Pride national development academy. The Wave led throughout and were up 16-5 at the half. They were up 26-5 with a few minutes left before the Pride answered back with two late scores.
The Canadian men’s XVs team will end a horrendous year with one bright glimmer, a win against Belgium with 14 men. Michael Smith received a red card at the 17 minute mark and Canada had to play short for the remainder of the match. The play looked innocuous enough in real time, the ref didn’t pick it up but the TMO did after the fact. Smith’s shoulder made contact with a player’s head while the player was on the ground trying to wrestle the ball away from Tyler Rowland.
While the Club leagues enter Week 5, the Coastal Cup enters it’s final weekend.
