It took us a while this week to get the scores out, the BCRU system had JBAA defeating CW but in fact it was CW with the win. The BCRU system doesn’t have a central person responsible for scores but relies on refs entering the scores post match and there have been a few data entry errors lately. We’ve verified most of these scores with a secondary source. We’re also assuming the BCRU table accurately calculated bonus points from today’s results. UPDATE: Our assumption was apparently wrong, the BCRU table is incorrect, CW didn’t get a bonus point in their win which changes the playoff picture, we’ve revised our article accordingly.

BC Premier Week 10 Results & Rosters: CW Clobber Seattle; Caps Topped by Bays; Lomas Upset UBC; Rowers Edged by Pride; Burnaby Defeat Vikes; Ravens Dominate Westshore

CW got the job done at home. The result puts them in 7th place (24 points) with the potential to reach 5th place before the season ends. The standings now would see CW @ Ravens in a quarter-final. The match next week against James Bay will be important in determining the final playoff picture.

On The Road Again: Ravens 33 – Pacific Pride 26

The Ravens and their west side club mates, the Lomas and Kats, were all sent packing by the Park Board this week to allow some field maintenance to be done so it was off to Langley on short notice thanks to the generosity of Langley RFC and the hard work of Ravens’ club president Frank Fekete. First the Rippers played a hard fought game with Langley ending with a crowd pleasing come from behind win for the home side, 40-33. Next up were the two touring premier sides who put on a top class show before the appreciative sun splashed crowd.

A note on location changes this weekend, unfortunately the city parks board wouldn’t give the west side clubs Meralomas, Kats and Ravens permits for this weekend. Lomas have moved their Premier game to Bayside and Ravens have moved their game to Langley.

On a cool day at Connaught the players and supporters were happy to get back to rugby after another long break and they were curious to see how the two long time westside rivals were now stacking up against one another. As it turned out the Ravens still have the upper hand thanks on this day to the strong play of their forward pack.

BC Premier Week 7 Rosters & Predictions: Rowers @ Caps; Bays @ Pride; CW @ Westshore; Lomas @ Seattle; Burnaby @ Ravens; Vikes @ UBC : UPDATE BCRU CANCELS MATCHES DUE TO WEATHER

The BCRU has cancelled all games in the province due to weather. It’s seen as a heavy handed decision by some who were prepared to go ahead with their matches, some fields were open. UBC had their field open and handled similar situations during the University Championships in November/December.
