Ravens Defend the Middle Ravens 24 – Caps 20: Report by Peter MacDonald

After two early season losses the Ravens looked like world beaters for the first 20 minutes of this game hopefully bringing a smile to Coach Taylor’s face. Constant possession, long uninterrupted phases of play with quick hands and lots of support led to two tries by the quarter. Wing Cole Keffer scooped up a blocked Caps kick, looked to pass but when a Caps player shot the gap he headed straight north on a hard cut and Joe Locke from Ethan Berry dotted down. A strong run from #10 Andrew Coe put Hamish Janes in at 20 minutes capping the early dominance and bringing the score to 12-0.

BC Premier Week 3 Results: Westshore Topple Bays; Burnaby Defeat Meraloma; Capilano Fall at Ravens; Vikes Lose to UBC – Exhibition Pride Outscore Seattle – Week 1 Women’s Premier Burnaby Stop Seattle, Meraloma Dominate CW

It’s Week 3 of the BC Premier and we see some big names returning to play in the Canadian Winter League, aka BC Premier. Just at #10 we have national team players Cooper Coats, Andrew Coe, Mark Balaski, Ethan Turner all starting this weekend. Lucas Rumball returns to the BC Premier after many seasons away, he’ll be starting as Ravens openside flanker.

BC Premier 2025-26 – Week 3

Look Ahead to Week 3 of the BC Premier; Pacific Pride Play Exhibition vs Seattle; UBC v UVic National University Qualifier and Women’s Premier Season Kicks Off

There are four matches in the men’s Premier this weekend, Week 3. The UBC vs UVic Premier match is also a National University Qualifier and part of the Wightman Boot competition between the two universities. The Pacific Pride are playing an exhibition against Seattle. The women’s Premier kicks off with two matches, there was supposed to be three but the Ravens v Thunderbirds match has been marked as cancelled. The Ravens apparently haven’t been able to put together a women’s Premier team at the time of writing. We’ll have our predictions article out tomorrow when we have the rosters for the weekend. The current Week 2 standings are posted below.

BC Rugby Weekend of September 27th 2025

BC Premier Week 2 Results: UBC Drop Capilano, Burnaby Edge Bays, Westshore Win at Ravens, CW Fall at Meraloma – Coastal Cup and University Qualifier UVic Dominate at TWU

There are four BC Premier matches this weekend as teams bring back players from last season and introduce new players. The playing strength of the teams for the full season ahead is still fluid and the results this weekend will give a better idea of what lies ahead. Some national team players, XVs and 7s, start to filter in Andrew Coe, Rhys James, Kyle Tremblay, Kaden Duguid, Ethan Turner, Izzak Kelly, Talon McMullin, Jack Shaw, Noah Bain weren’t seen in Week 1. Also the Coastal Cup and University Qualifier between the Vikes and TWU kicks off with Cooper Coats getting his first start with the Vikes.

We had a chance to review the match footage of 3 games that were put up on YouTube, kudos to Westshore and UVic for putting up the live streams and archives of the matches, and to Burnaby for putting up the match video post game. We selected a few screen captures from the videos to highlight some outstanding performances. You can view the timestamp on the screen captures to watch on the videos which are included below. The players featured from Week 1 are Burnaby #10 Napolioni Bolaca, Westshore #10 Mark Balaski, UVic’s second row Brendan Kim and centre Morgan di Nardo. All Week 1 impact players.

BC Rugby Weekend of September 13th 2025

BC Premier Week 1 Results: UBC Draw With Burnaby, Bays Ground Ravens, Pride Fall to Vikes, Westshore Defeat CW, Caps Top Lomas

A number of upsets in Week 1 as teams have recruited in the off season and the playing strengths for the new season become apparent. The biggest upset reported by the BCRU was the Bays over UBCOB Ravens. The Bays finished in the cellar last season and the Ravens won the Rounsefell Cup. In another match UVic were down 19 points at the half and upset the Rugby Canada Academy in a close battle. We have the full match video on both the UVic v Pride match and the Westshore v CW match, courtesy of the host clubs YouTube channels.
