An Early Look at the 2025-26 BC Premier Season: 17 Match Weekends, Double Club Round, Single Round vs Pride

The BC Rugby season is about 2 months away but it’s never to early to start thinking about it, right? This year’s Premier season looks like it will kick off September 13th with the same 10 teams from last year. Last year due to weather cancellations the number of games played by each team varied from 12 to 15. In 2025-26 each team is scheduled to play 17 matches. There will be a single round against the Pacific Pride and a double, home and away round, against the other 8 teams.

BCRU Annual Report 2025

BCRU Release 2024-25 Annual Report

The BCRU released their annual report with financials. The 2024-25 Annual Report in .pdf format is available for viewing online. We’ve highlighted some quotes below and a graph of their numbers. An overall evaluation, from my point of view, is that they’ve done well at the age-grade levels growing the game, the Kamloops 7s is a case in point. There’s work to do in the high performance end, especially with the senior men which has been quiet at the regional and provincial level. The reality is the financials are one of the major constraining factors which is why they brought in a new CEO to tackle that issue.

BCRU Updates – June 2025

BCRU Announce Limits on Imported Players for 2025/26 BC Premier Season

The BCRU continues to fine tune the balance of trying to raise the level of play in the BC Premier through import players with the responsibility of developing domestic players. Their latest decision is that a maximum of 7 import players can be in a match day 23, or in other words, 16 domestic players (ie. eligible to play for Canada) have to be in the roster. This applies to the BC Premier team and the team they enter in the Division One league.

Ravens Advance to Final Ravens 48 – Westshore 17: Report by Peter MacDonald

After a four-week layoff the Ravens stepped back onto the pitch on a sunny day at Jericho to contest the BC semi-final game against its most recent opponent, Westshore. And as the vendors selling trinkets to the cruise ship passengers say it was “same, same, but different”.
