BC U16 and U18 Teams Dominate in Exhibition Matches Against Pacific Northwest Loggers

Canada defeated Belgium 22-17 but they didn’t make it easy on themselves. Canada gave up three first half tries on the outside plus earned themselves a yellow card for some chippy play off the ball, they were down 17-0 with 10 minutes left in the first half. They were almost down four tries as Belgium ran another one in on the outside but it was called back and a red card given the Belgian player, that was the turning point in the match.

Vancouver, BC: BC Rugbys 2023 Provincial Regional Championships (PRCs) concluded on Sunday following three days of action-packed youth Rugby at UBCs Gerald McGavin Centre, with the Vancouver Island Junior Tide taking four gold medals back to the Island.
Van City Rugby Academy are running two rugby camps this summer.
The coaching staff includes Christiaan Esterhuizen, Mike Hall and Aaron Takel.
The age group is 5-13 years.
The Commonwealth Youth Games were last held in 2017 in the Bahamas. The 2021 games were postponed due to COVID and are taking place this year in Tobago.
The BC Provincial XVs wrapped up today with St. George’s winning the AAA, Collingwood the AA in the boys tournament, and Yale winning the AAA, Shawnigan the AA in the girls tournament.
Since BC School Sports took over rugby from the independent BCSSRU results have been difficult to find. Thanks to the organizers of the Island Boys competition we have some results to provide and a schedule for the Island Boys HS final.
The Provincials will be held May 31st to June 2nd in Abbotsford.

2023 is the first year that girls rugby is an official LIMSSA (Lower Island Middle School Sports Association) sport and the season ending tournament played Monday May 15th, was very successful.

On Friday, May 12th, thirty-two teams from sixteen elementary schools descended onto the dandelion covered fields of Gordon Head Middle School, for the 49th annual Victoria Mini Rugby Tournament.
Byrne Creek are hosting an Invitational High School 7s tournament this coming weekend at South Surrey Athletic Park. The Junior tournament is Friday April 21, the Senior tournament is Saturday April 22 and Sunday April 23. Matches run from 10am to 5:30pm on Friday, 11:30am to 5:30pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday. There are two fields in action each day.
